Collectif Malunés (Arne Sabbe)

Arne Sabbe in residency to work on his creation Ki No Nagare. This creation is supported by CIRKLabo with a co-production.

"Ki No Nagare" (working title)

A creation inspired by the movement and philosophy of Aikido, where the energy of a partner is absorbed and redirected in a fluid motion. The piece explores the fusion of two distinct worlds and delves into themes such as body image and physical norms. Two contrasting bodies—a heavier man and a lighter man—meet on stage to minimize the contrast between them. The performance is accompanied by a Taiko drummer, whose powerful rhythms set the tone. The show will be staged in a Dome structure, accommodating an audience of around 200 people.

During his residency week at CIRKLabo, Arne is focusing on further developing laboratory material using a homemade Taiko drum.

About Arne Sabbe

Arne Sabbe is one of the four founders of Collectif Malunés (2009), a circus company with a passion for tents and blending tradition with innovation. Collectif Malunés primarily focuses on collective performances but is also evolving into an artistic hub where Malunés' expertise and skills are made available for the development and realization of new projects. Under the tent of Malunés, Arne is currently working on a show that merges his love for martial arts with circus.
