Circus where you wouldn't immediately expect it, that's LIVING. Ten circus artists/musicians/actors/... and their dog pop up in unique places. They will take you on an exploration of your own environment and let you experience circus from the front row.

At locations 1 and 2, the performers split up. The space, the audience and the inhabitants influence the outcome of the performance. The intimate setting contrasts sharply with the absurd play situations that come from unexpected angles. The venue transforms into a circus tent where wonder and spectacle are entirely central.

At location 3 is the glorification of being together. Because what we can do together, we cannot do alone. The different players from locations 1 and 2 meet. One shares a unique moment in the here and now. An experience that lives on in the memory and imagination of those present.

Practical info

LIVING consists of three separate parts, each in a unique location within the center of Leuven. The order in which you watch the performances is entirely up to you. The exact location remains a secret for now, but don't worry, there is plenty of time to move between the different parts of the performance.

Location 1: An artist's studio at Vaartkom = Fri 15/12 (18h) and Sat 16/12 (17h) - 30 min
Location 2: A living in Het Nieuwe Kwartier = Fri 15/12 (7 pm) and Sat 16/12 (6 pm) - 30 min
Location 3: foyer of 30CC/Minnepoort = Fri 15/12 (8.30 pm) and Sat 16/12 (7.30 pm) - 40 min.

'LIVING' is a social-artistic project that takes hybrid circus beyond the public space. into locations that are not normally intended for performance. Creation and performance take place in these locations: personal homes, living rooms, care institutions, cafés, libraries, prisons… and the diverse architecture and levels of intimacy play a profound part in the final event.

Be Flat

Be Flat is a circus company based in Ghent Belgium, founded by Ward Mortier and Thomas Decaesstecker. The company is known for its unique mix of acrobatic circus and urban sports. As residents of the urban environment, we are fascinated by the public space. The city is a living organism in constant flux. How do we use this common space? Who are we in today's street scene? Be Flat strives for equality. We play for everyone. Our goal is to use our creativity to bring spectators with different backgrounds together, during our ‘interventions’, and also thereafter.
