A hypnotic journey through time and movement.
Have you ever felt like time was slipping away? Or, on the contrary, that minutes seemed to last forever? When is time well spent? And how do we deal with the inevitable realisation that one day our time will run out?
The paradox of time: from suffocating rush to sleepless nights. Between aerial acrobatics and light art, the boundaries of time and reality blur. Hanging from an aerial rope, Jakob Jacobsson balances between control and surrender, while stroboscopic light freezes his movements and reality slowly fades away.
In an alienating world, where nothing is what it seems, the laws of gravity and perception are challenged. Our complex relationship with time comes to light in intense ways.
With Insomnia, Jakob Jacobsson presents his first solo performance. Known for his versatile work in collective creations, he has toured across Europe. His performances – from humorous pieces about Nordic stereotypes to introspective works about regret – share one common factor: they are relatable and touch on universal human experiences.
For Insomnia, he collaborates with Viivi Roiha, a Finnish rope acrobat based in Nantes, and Teo Lanerva, a renowned lighting designer from Helsinki. Together, they create a dreamlike, surreal atmosphere where time and reality merge.
