Extricate

Extricate is a duet of a hand-balancing dance performance and a live music & foley performance that offers the audience a soothing universe. Hand-balancing artist Bert Berg explores the boundaries of handstand based on intrinsically driven movements. Composer Suntapes is extrapolating the minimalistic approach in his live compositions. The interaction between both worlds is the base of the new performance “Extricate”.

Bert Berg creates performances with people, objects, and audiences that conjure up specific worlds. From a Dogville-style living room with collapsed handstands to a meticulously arranged Zen garden of over 800 mousetraps. Hand-balancing, physical theater, (acrobatic) dance, object manipulation, and collective imagination are often the core ingredients. He studied circus and theater in Granada and Brussels and works with his own unique language, presenting hand balancing and movement on stage in a fresh and innovative way.

Tomas Vanderplaetse (aka Suntapes) is a composer and performer of neo-classical, cinematic, and ambient music. In his dreamy, atmospheric musical landscapes, he explores intimate melodies and resonances. Suntapes blends piano, unconventional acoustic instruments, analog synthesizers, field recordings, looping, and electronics. As a musician, Tomas is also known as the keyboard player for bands such as Arno.
